Substitute - The Video

I said no more videos for a while, but I'm making an exception here. For those of you that have never heard "Substitute," I decided to post it below courtesy of YouTube, of course.

I don't have much to post about tonight, so I figured I would add a video. The Who were joined by Eddie Vedder for this performance of "I'm One" at London's Royal Albert Hall in 2000.

The Who -- Pictures Of Lily

Here's another version of The Who performing "Pictures Of Lily," I have no idea when this video was recorded, but the song was originally done in 1967. "And now my nights ain't quite so lonely...In fact I, I don't feel bad at all..."

Roger Daltrey: Let It Be

There's plenty in the news right now that I would love to "rant and rave" about; maybe I could even blog from a remote location, like the hip and glamorous Rack & Roll. Hee haw! It's a joke dammit!

Anyway, for now I am just going to post this video that I found on youtube. It's a pretty good version of "Let It Be," performed by Roger Daltrey when he toured with the British Rock Symphony Orchestra back in 1998 and 1999. I actually saw all of them along with the very accomplished Boys Choir of Harlem at Radio City Music Hall in '98. It was really good and a top-notch place to see a concert!

For this one, Daltrey was on-stage with Simon Townshend (Pete's brother) and Zack Starkey (Ringo's son). I don't know who the black woman is singing, but she's great! Anyone who can identify her and the venue, wins a Starbucks' drink on me!

I Can See For Miles

What got me into rock & roll, are what I think were probably the first two songs that I remember hearing as a very young, youngen. "Light My Fire" by The Doors and this one, "I Can See For Miles" by The Who. Here is a very rare clip:

Pete Townshend At Joe's Pub (I Think This Might Be My Favorite One)

This clip is of Pete playing at Joe's in New York City with Rachel Fuller, Foy Vance, and Martha Wainwright. The song is "I'm One," which was originally done on The Who's Quadrophenia album. Now it is performed as the closing song for In The Attic. Incidentally Martha Wainwright comes from a very musically-inclined family. I saw her aunt, Sloan, perform with Montgomery Delaney and she is spectacular.

Pete Townshend & Phil Collins

I guess I'm in a Who state of mind. But anyway, Happy belated birthday (May 19) to The Who's Pete Townshend; one of my heroes! Here Pete Townshend performs Slit Skirts with Phil Collins on drums! Some other videos in tribute to Pete follow in the next couple of posts.
